The Fleet and Boathouse
We have a wide variety of boats and equipment to suit every level of rowing. The different types of boats are: 8+, 4+, 4-, 4x, 2-, 2x, 1x The number indicates how many rowers there are. "x" denotes a sculling boat (2 oars each), all others are one oar each. "+" menas there is an extra person on board, a cox, who does nothing but steer. "-" means that one of the rowers steers the boat. Some boats can be converted between sculling and sweep by changing the riggers (metal bits on the side). Boats are designed to carry rowers of a certain weight - that is the figure in Kilogrammes. However there is generally 10Kgs leeway plus or minus.
